A couple of realizations on academia.

What we bring forth from our own cultural heritage is nearly always, in actuality, helpful to our analysis, and nearly always viewed as detrimental to our scholarship.

Those who would stand up, take action, make a difference – we are always in need of a greater measure of two things – wisdom, and courage.

It doesn't have to become arrogance, or seem as such, if we try to approach the critic in humility, and not take a defensive posture. Easier said than done, of course.
