A democracy is only as good as her people. America and American style democracy only work if two bete noirs are kept in check- Namely Fear and Greed.
Fear manifested as fear of other,racism.
Greed, the attitude that "someone owes me a living", an education, medical care etc.; when "I'm to lazy to get off my derrière and earn it and am physically able to do so".
