My Real Problem with Michael Moore
Is not his anti-Bush stance. People can be against the president and his agenda and still be inspiring to me or important to me. My problem with Michael Moore is that his argument is so unintellectual. He seems so insistent on the point that Bush lied, but refuses to admit that it's a false premise. Not telling the truth is simply not, by any definition automatically a lie. Did Aristotle lie about the 55 spheres? Did Copernicus lie? Did Newton? Did Stephen Hawking lie about Black Holes? People who get things wrong are not lying unless it was known and deliberate.
Michael Moore dismissed this as a 7 year-old's argument but, in actuality, a 7 year old would know the difference between a lie and a mistake.
The Left considers itself the intellectual side of the political argument. Bill Clinton recently said, "When people think, Demcrats win." Yet, they accept Moore as spokesperson for their cause. I'm quite certain there are good, intellectual arguments for most liberal positions on Bush. Why aren't they being made?
